Anyone know an anime like Clannad, which at least rivals its greatness?

Ok, sorry for the self-righteous question up there. Anyway, what I'm talking about is an anime that is hearfelt and warming with nice non-manga stereotypical characters and a similar humor, finding a sort of balance between spontaneous and dry humor.
