Why does temperature affect diffusion rates?

Temperature affects diffusion rates because it causes the molecules of the substances that are being diffused to expand when heated and allow for increased movement thus creating an increased diffusion rate, or contract when cooled, eliminating space and making it more difficult for the molecules to become interspersed.
