How can you tell if your floor tile is installed correctly?

We just moved into a brand new home with cement slab foundation. One of our neighbors has gone through her house and tapped her floor tiles to find that many have a hollow sound vs. a solid sound making us think that not all parts of the 15" x 15" tile are adhered to the floor, Is this a problem? Should we be checking the tiles in our home too?
